Siliguri, 03rd February: NJP police recovered cannabis worth around 15 lakh rupees, on Thursday. Three people have been arrested in the incident.
The police received a tip-off regarding cannabis being smuggled in a vegetable-laden pickup van. Accordingly, a team of police led by ASI Khagen Barman set up a base at Amaidighi in Fulbari under the instructions of NJP police OC Samir Tamang. The van was detained and 150 kgs of cannabis were recovered after searching. The driver of the vehicle Saidul Mian and cannabis traders Mojibul Haque and Ashok Barman was arrested in the incident. All are residents of Cooch Behar.
According to police sources, the cannabis was being transported from Cooch Behar to Kolkata. Police are investigating whether anyone else is involved in the ring.
