NJP GRP police found lost bag of foreign tourist in Siliguri

Siliguri, 25th November: The good work of GRP police has once again come to the fore after the team solved a case of theft of a bag containing valuables that belonged to a foreign national.


Reportedly, Ruben Jonathan Petley, a resident of Queensland, Australia, arrived at the NJP station on 11th November to head to Darjeeling. But, one of his bags which contained valuables like a camera, passport, laptop, tab, and a cash sum of Rs 17,000 was stolen at the NJP station. 

Ruben Jonathan lodged a written complaint with the NJP GRP. Based on the complaint, a team of NJP GRP police today arrested Deepak Barman, a resident of Falakata, and Shantanu Kar, a resident of Malda, from Khalpara, Siliguri. All the stolen goods have also been recovered from them. 


In this regard, IC of NJP GRP Anupam Majumdar said that both the accused were involved in various incidents of theft. GRP is probing the entire incident.
