Siliguri, 14th March: A teachers ‘meeting was organized by the West Bengal Trinamool Secondary Teachers’ Association on the occasion of Nandigram Diwas. A tribute was paid to the martyrs at the beginning of the ceremony.

On this day, wreaths were laid at the altar and a tribute was paid to the martyrs who lost their lives during the farmers’ movement in Nandigram. Following this, a teachers’ meeting was held at the Kanchenjunga Stadium hall, where discussions were held regarding the upcoming assembly elections in Bengal.

Trinamool leaders Goutam Deb, Ranjan Sarkar, Chairman of the Primary Council Board Dr Suprakash Roy, Siliguri Assembly Trinamool candidate Om Prakash Mishra, several other candidates and teachers were present at the event.

It is to be noted that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) observes March 14 as ‘Nandigram Diwas’ to pay tribute to agitators who lost their lives during police firing in Nandigram during an anti-land acquisition stir in 2007.
