MP Raju Bista extends greetings on Nepali Language Recognition Day

On the occasion of Nepali Bhasa Manyata Diwas (Nepali Language Recognition Day) Darjeeling MP Raju Bista greeted the Nepali speaking Gorkhas through a video message, on Thursday.


The Constitution of India on 20th day of August 1992 gave recognition to Nepali language and included in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. It was a moment of great achievement for all the Indian Nepalese or the Gorkhas.

Bista hailed all the language fighters who contributed towards the development and prosperity of Nepali language in India.


“August 20 is a day to express gratitude and commemorate the joint efforts of writers, intellectuals, cultural workers and politicians who are continuously working for the development of Nepali language,” he added.

The MP urged the Gorkha community to take a pledge to enhance the Nepali language and strive to make it more prosperous.
