MP Jayanta Roy inspected the rain-affected areas in Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri, 13th July: Due to heavy downpour for the past few days, a flood-like situation is being witnessed in Jalpaiguri. Several people were left stranded and helpless. In this regard, MP Jayanta Roy inspected several affected areas and expressed displeasure over the role of the administration.

The MP, on Sunday night, inspected the city’s Dinbazar area and Paremmitra Colony, where he interacted with the locals and heard out their grievances.

Acting promptly, the MP immediately informed the matter to the Sadar SDO and also arranged food for everyone. He accused the administration of not making necessary arrangements for the residents of the affected areas nor taking any initiative to rescue the stranded people.

Roy stated that almost all places, including Boyelkhana Bazar, are submerged under rainwater. Besides, no proper toilet facilities are available.

“I have asked the administration to help the common people in this difficult time. The administration has also been informed concerning the problems faced by the trapped people,” he added.
