Mothers protest in Siliguri over not getting COVID vaccine

Siliguri, 17th July: Women protested in front of the hall of Kangchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri over not getting the COVID vaccine. The women alleged that the health workers had announced yesterday that all mothers with children aged 0-12 years would be vaccinated today. In view of this, they stood in line to receive their shots since morning.

However, at 11 in the morning, the health workers informed them that the members of the Bengal Chemists and Druggists Association would be vaccinated today instead. Following this, the agitated mothers started protesting. Upon receiving the news, the city’s police reached the spot and brought the situation under control through miking.

On the other hand, SMC BoA member Ranjan Sarkar said that such problems are arising in the city due to the shortage of COVID vaccines. “We want everyone to get vaccinated, but the centre is not sending the vaccine at the right time. Hence such problems are occurring,” he stated.
