Mock drill organized at NBMCH to check emergency preparedness for COVID

Siliguri, 27th December: Concerned about the sudden increase in the cases of COVID virus in many countries, the Central Government has instructed everyone to be alert. Mock drills have been ordered in hospitals. Given this, the officials of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital have started prepping for the outbreak.


Reportedly, the Union Health Ministry has ordered essential steps to be taken to deal with the COVID situation across the country. According to the order, after checking the status of the COVID block, its information will be sent to the Health Department and the Ministry through an online portal. Today, the COVID blocks of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital were reviewed by the hospital superintendent Sanjay Mallick, president Indrajit Saha, and biotechnological engineers. He took stock of various aspects of the hospital including the oxygen plant. Currently, there are a total of 241 COVID beds in the COVID block of NBMCH. Of these, 95 beds are for an emergency. Apart from this, there are 18 ventilators. 

Hospital Superintendent Sanjay Mallick said that all the conditions of the hospital have been reviewed for COVID. A meeting has been held with the officials. All information will be sent online to the Ministry of Health. Although all the beds will not be available simultaneously. The first 110 beds are being prepared. Later, gradually the rest of the beds will be available.
