Siliguri, 19th June: Dabgram-Fulbari MLA Sikha Chatterjee visited Thakur Nagar in Siliguri to meet the family of the victims who were attacked by miscreants two days ago. During her visit, she spoke to the victims, assured them of support, and expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the area.
Earlier, in response to the incident, locals in Baribhasa staged a protest by shutting down businesses and blocking the Eastern Bypass to demand justice and stricter policing. The protest reflected the growing public anger over rising incidents of violence.
During this, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb also visited the affected area and took stock of the situation.
Following the incident, the NJP police have arrested six individuals in connection with the attack and further investigation is underway.
