MLA Shankar Ghosh met the family of sanitation worker who died of dengue in Siliguri

Siliguri, 04th November: On Thursday morning, dengue havoc gripped a sanitation worker who lost his life. The deceased has been identified as Dilip Raut, a resident of Ambedkar Colony of Ward No. 28 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Today MLA Shankar Ghosh met the family of Dilip at the residence of the deceased.


The MLA expressed condolences to the family members. Apart from this, he also took stock of the area of the said ward. During his visit, Shankar Ghosh stated that it is the duty and responsibility of the sanitation workers to ensure the cleanliness of Siliguri city but if the sanitation workers are infected by dengue, they will be afraid to do the cleaning work.

He further accused the Siliguri Municipal Corporation of failing to prevent dengue in the city and contain the havoc the disease has created. He further said that he will send a letter to the Chief Minister and ministers regarding the failure of the SMC.


On the other hand, reacting to MLA Shankar Ghosh’s remark, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar took a jibe at the MLA and accused him of failing to do his part in raising awareness and only creating confusion and fear in the minds of the people.
