Matelli, 11th January: The Mirdha Samaj has demanded access to all government facilities including the issuance of caste certificates to them.
A meeting with the people of Mirdha community was held in Kalikote Tea Garden – No. 04 line under Matelli Block in Terai Dooars. Various demands were discussed in the said meeting.
As per their allegations, the people said that despite being a tribal community, the Mirdha people have not been provided with a certificate nor do they enjoy any government facilities.
Mirdha Samaj secretary Ram Mirdha said that even though they are a tribal community, they do not possess a certificate. He asserted that the people demand to be provided with all government facilities including ST certificate.
