Blood donation camp organised at Naxalbari Police Station to address blood shortage and strengthen police-public ties

Naxalbari, 20th August: A blood donation camp was organised at Naxalbari Police Station on Thursday with the initiative of Naxalbari Police and support from the Lions Club to help address the blood shortage and strengthen relations between the police and the public.

Police personnel, local residents and members of several organisations participated in the camp and donated blood.

To encourage the donors, Naxalbari SDPO of Darjeeling District Police Soumyajit Roy presented roses to them. He also distributed saplings to promote environmental protection.

Tukriajhar Forest Department Range Officer Suraj Mukhia, members of the local traders’ association and social workers were also present at the camp.

Soumyajit Roy said the camp was organised with people from different sections of society as part of efforts to reach out to the public alongside maintaining law and order.

He said several blood banks are currently facing blood shortages and added that Naxalbari Police, in coordination with local traders, are creating a database of blood donors. The initiative aims to help authorities quickly contact donors of rare blood groups whenever required.
