Minor missing from Siliguri rescued from Uttar Pradesh, youth arrested

Siliguri, 16th February: The officials of the Bhaktinagar police station have successfully rescued a minor missing in Siliguri from Uttar Pradesh. The incident led to the arrest of accused Vivek Basfor (19) on charges of kidnapping.


According to reports, on February 1, a 17-year-old minor girl went missing from the Dashrathpally area located under the jurisdiction of the Bhaktinagar police station. On February 2, the minor’s family arrived at the police station and lodged a missing complaint. Upon investigating the case, the police learned that the minor was abducted by her neighbour Vivek. Further investigations revealed the location of the mobile tower of the accused indicating their presence in Uttar Pradesh.

Subsequently, under the leadership of SI Satish Ruchel of the Bhaktinagar police station, a team of police officials left for Uttar Pradesh and safely rescued the minor from the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, accused Vivek was apprehended on charges of alleged kidnapping, and both the minor and the arrested accused were brought back to Siliguri. On Friday, the accused youth has been produced before the Jalpaiguri Court.
