Minor girl allegedly sexually harassed in Naxalbari, accused arrested

Naxalbari, 18th May: A shopkeeper was arrested by Naxalbari Police following allegations of sexual harassment of a minor girl in an incident reported from an area adjacent to Naxalbari police station.

According to police sources, the minor girl had gone to a shop to purchase goods when the accused allegedly took advantage of her being alone and misbehaved with her.

After returning home, the minor informed her family members about the incident, following which a written complaint was lodged at Naxalbari Police Station.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, police arrested the accused, identified as Tarit Ghosh. The accused was produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Monday. Police have initiated a detailed investigation into the matter.
