Memorandum submitted demanding to open river ghats in Kharibari

Kharibari, 17th October: The river ghats of various blocks under different districts have been opened except under the Kharibari block. Due to this,  tractor drivers and people quarrying stones and sand from the river are facing problems. The Kharibari Tractor Association today submitted a memorandum to the Kharibari BDO and the Land Reform Officer, demanding to reopen the river ghat at the earliest. 


In this regard, association member Subrata Talukdar said that river ghats have been opened in various blocks, except in Kharibari. He said they will launch a massive agitation in the coming days if their demands are not met.

However speaking on this regard, Kharibari BDO Niranjan Barman said that after the Green Tribunal’s order, the ghat has been opened, but due to lack of lease, they had to shut it down. The matter has been taken to the higher authorities in order to be solved at the earliest, he assured.
