Siliguri, 12th April: Four participants of Siliguri, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar recently took part in the two-day National Yoga Championship organized by Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana in Kolkata. Reportedly, Anjali Singh from Siliguri bagged the Gold medal, and Ankita Chaudhary won a Bronze medal in two different categories. While Dulal Barman of Cooch Behar and Priya Ghosh of Jalpaiguri won silver medals in the championship.
Lauding their brilliant performance, all four players were felicitated by Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s Mayor-in-Council and Ward No. 46 councillor Dilip Barman today in Siliguri’s Jatiya Shakti Sangha and Pathagar Club.
Addressing the gathering, Dilip Barman said that as he looks after the department of sports under the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, he will make sure the first priority will be given towards development of players and sports in Siliguri. While applauding the aforementioned players, Barman appealed to the players’ coach Shiv Hazra to bring out more such players by giving better training in the coming days. The Mayor-in-Council also assured all possible help to the coach and players.
