Siliguri, 04th March: Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb officially launched North Bengal State Transport Corporation (N.B.S.T.C.) bus services on two routes within Siliguri on Monday.
The inauguration ceremony, marked by the cutting of a ribbon, was attended by esteemed individuals including the Divisional Manager of N.B.S.T.C., Shyamal Sarkar, Councillor of Ward No. 35 Sampa Nandi, Councillor of Ward No. 34 Biman Chandra Tapadar, Councillor of Ward No. 32 Tapas Chatterjee, and President of Siliguri Town Block 3 INTTUC New Jalpaiguri Branch, Sujoy Sarkar.
As per reports, one bus will ply from Netaji More of NJP to Milan More, while another will operate from Netaji More of NJP to Salugara. Ticket fares are set between Rs 10 and Rs 25. Notably, the route from Netaji More to Milan More comprises 15 stoppages, while the second route includes 11.
The commencement of these services comes after persistent demands from the local community. Mayor Gautam Deb emphasized the significant benefits the bus service will bring to the public. It’s noteworthy that approximately 10 buses previously operated on this route, which had been suspended for six years due to various reasons. Its resumption marks a crucial milestone in public transportation for the area.
