Siliguri, 14th October: The city sees a rise in illegal gambling dens during the time of Diwali and Kali Puja. But, this year the Matigara police station has become active to keep such activities under control and is trying its best to shut such activities down.
In regard to this, the Matigara police station raided the base of such gambling activities. Last night, the police went undercover and arrested 8 people by campaigning at two different places. The accused have been identified as Shankar Paswan, Imanul Haq, Amirul Islam, Nirmal Singh, Harendra Saha, Bahural Islam, Ramesh Singh, and MD Feroz.
About Rs 20,000 have also been seized from the said people by the police. The police of Matigara police station produced the eight accused in Siliguri court today.
