Matigara cops recover 42 cattle from Siliguri, two arrested 

Siliguri, 28th March: Sensation prevailed after 42 cattle were rescued before being smuggled into Assam via Bihar. The smugglers had plan to go to Assam via Siliguri by loading it in two trucks. However, the smuggling plan was foiled by the police of Matigara police station. During the operation, two smugglers have also been arrested in the said case. The arrested smugglers have been identified as Subodh Saha (32) and Amar Kumar Singh (22).


Reportedly, in the early morning today, two trucks bearing Assam numbers (AS 26 EC 0383) and (AS 25 EC 0384) were carrying 42 cattle from Bihar. As soon as the police received a tip-off, the undercover police of Matigara police station launched a campaign near the Matigara-Phansidewa underpass. 


The trucks were intercepted and during the search, 42 cattle were found inside them. The police demanded truck drivers to provide valid documentation related to the cattle. On failing to provide the same, both the drivers were arrested on the charges of cattle smuggling. The duo was presented in Siliguri court today.
