Siliguri, 15th July: A search operation has been underway in the Teesta River for the second consecutive day after a person allegedly jumped from bridge in Sevoke, but no trace of the individual has been found so far.
According to reports, police received information that a person had jumped into the river near Coronation Bridge. Police reached the spot and started an investigation. During the search, a suspected motorcycle was recovered near the bridge.
After checking the motorcycle’s registration details, police found that it was registered in the name of a resident of Hakimpara area of Siliguri.
Meanwhile, a missing person complaint has also been lodged at Panitanki Outpost under Siliguri Metropolitan Police, adding another angle to the case. Family members of the missing person also reached the Teesta River after receiving information about the incident.
NDRF and SDRF teams have been conducting a continuous search operation in the river since Tuesday evening, but the person remains untraced. Police are investigating the matter from all possible angles.
