Siliguri, 15th March: Siliguri police arrested a man with a substantial amount of cash during Naka checking at Siliguri’s Jankar More, this morning. The arrested has been identified as Aditya Anand, a resident of Bihar.
Naka checking and route march are continuously being carried out by the administration to keep the city’s security under control ahead of the assembly elections. Likewise, the police conducted a Naka checking in Jhankar More this morning. During the course, they detained a man travelling in a toto (e-rickshaw). Upon questioning him, the police learned about the huge sum of cash in his possession and immediately informed the Income Tax Department.
According to police sources, around Rs 80 lakh have been recovered from the accused. The Income Tax Department has taken the said person in their custody and has initiated an investigation of the entire incident.
