Man arrested in Siliguri with gold biscuits worth ₹40 lakh

Siliguri, 24th February: A man was arrested in Siliguri while attempting to smuggle gold biscuits. The arrested individual has been identified as Shravan Kumar, a resident of Darbhanga, Bihar.

According to reports, the NJP police received information about a gold smuggling attempt from Assam to Bihar. Acting on this tip-off, a police team set up surveillance at Battalion More in Fulbari. Shravan Kumar was spotted waiting for a vehicle when police detained and searched him. Upon inspection, four gold biscuits were found tied to his feet with a cloth.

Police sources revealed that the recovered gold weighs 464 grams, with an estimated market value of approximately ₹40 lakh. The accused has been taken to NJP police station, and an investigation is underway.
