Rajganj, 19th October: The NJP police arrested a man, identified as Gopal Mandal (55) on the charge of raping a 5-year old girl. The incident surfaced from the Fulbari Paschim (West) Dhantala area.
According to the victim’s family sources, the little girl was home alone after her mother left for the market. Apparently, her father was not home too as he works in another country. Taking advantage of the situation, Gopal Mandal allegedly took the child to the nearby forests and committed the heinous crime.
When her mother returned from the market, the little girl narrated the entire incident to her and fell ill. Upon receiving the news, the NJP police reached the spot. Based on the complaint of the family, the police arrested the accused.
The child has been admitted to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. Her family demanded severe punishment for the accused.
