Madarihat’s Kankana secures first place in Kala Utsav organized by Paschim Banga Samagra Shiksha Mission

Alipurduar, 02nd December: Kankana Roy, a resident of Rangalibazna from Paschim Khairbari village of Madarihat block in Alipurduar district, secured the first place in the classical dance division in the art festival organized by the Paschim Banga Samagra Shiksha Mission


According to reports, Kankana is a 12th grader in the arts department at Birpara High School. Her mother Shikha Roy is a teacher while her father Chanchal Roy is an entrepreneur. From a very young age, Kankana showed a keen interest in singing and dancing.

On November 29th and 30th, Kolkata hosted the aforementioned competition where 24 competitors from across the state actively participated in the respective categories. Kankana Roy won the first prize during the event and got the opportunity to participate in the tournament at the national level.


In regard to her accomplishments, Kankana expressed optimism in participating at the national level. She further aims to continue training to excel in dance followed by the higher secondary examinations.
