Lower Tungsung Road in Darjeeling will be renamed as Indra Bahadur Rai Road

Darjeeling, 08th August: Darjeeling’s Lower Tungsung Road will be renamed after the renowned literary Indra Bahadur Rai. Reportedly, Nepali Language Recognition Day will be celebrated in Darjeeling under the aegis of Darjeeling Municipality and GTA with various programs on 20th August.


Deepen Thakuri, Municipal Councilor of Darjeeling Municipality said that Lower Tungsung Road will be officially declared as Literary Indra Bahadur Rai Road from the platform of the event. He added that Roward Chhetri had requested to rename the road after the senior writer Indra Bahadur Rai. Considering this request into account, the councillors of Darjeeling Municipality presented this proposal to Chairman Ritesh Portel of Darjeeling Municipality and took this decision after his approval.

Municipal Councilor Thakuri further added that the Lower Tungsung Road will be officially named as Indra Bahadur Road on the occasion of Nepali Language Recognition Day which will be completed on August 20.
