Loco Inspector saves life of suicidal man on the railway line

Alipurduar, 27th February: A suicidal man was saved by a Loco Inspector on a railway line. The said incident transpired on Sunday afternoon. Reportedly, the New Alipurduwa-Sealdah Teesta-Torsa Express from New Maynaguri station of Northeast Frontier Railway was heading towards Domhani station. 


 

Loco Inspector Chandan Sarkar, who was on duty at the engine of the train, noticed the movement of a person on the track of the train. He saw a man with his head on the rail line. After this, he informed the train driver about the same and was stopped by applying the emergency brake putting his life in danger. 


 

After this, the Loco Inspector was handed over the person to RPF officials. It is to be noted, that the person has been identified as Rohit Sarkar, a private transport worker by profession. He admitted that he had reached there to commit suicide out of desperation after losing his job. After the incident, the Alipurduar Division of Northeast Frontier Railway released a video congratulating the driver and the Loco Inspector.
