Lockdown extension: Specific markets in Siliguri to remain closed until further notice

Siliguri, 04th July: During a press conference today at the Mainak Tourist lodge, State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb stated that the vegetable market adjacent to the town station of Siliguri Ward No. 18 as well as the market near Ward No. 27 Tikiapara will remain closed till July 12. The decision was taken considering the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the city.


Besides, Haiderpara, Ektiasal Haat, Salugara, Ghogomali Bazar, and Bangla Bazar will remain closed till July 14. Also, 3 more areas will be declared as containment zones in Ward No. 46.

Apart from Siliguri Municipal Corporation, there are currently 26 containment zones in Matigara and 4 in Naxalbari.


During the press conference, the Minister also stated that discussions have been held with the Chief Minister regarding the current situation.

Meanwhile, strict surveillance is being kept to ensure that all preventive measures are being followed by every citizen.
