Locals protest against open trade of narcotics in Siliguri’s Ward No. 01

Siliguri, 07th April: The locals of B.R.I Colony of ​Ward No. 01 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation staged a protest against the illegal trade of drugs openly being carried out in the area. Locals staged a protest in front of the house of drug peddler Ahmed Mansuri alias ‘Munna’, on Tuesday night.


Upon receiving the news of the incident, Pradhan Nagar police reached the scene. However, this further incited the locals, who strongly claimed that the drug market was flourishing in their ward with the help of the police. However, the crowd later calmed down after police assured of taking proper action.

Acting on the complaint filed by the locals, the police searched Munna’s house and recovered around 15 mobiles and 20 laptops with 1.5 lakh rupees in cash. Meanwhile, all accused managed to flee away from the scene.


According to the local sources, Ahmed Mansuri aka Munna has been running the illegal drug trade in the said ward for a long time. Apart from Ahmed Mansuri, Amjad, Chhotu Paswan, Amit Sharma, and Rahul Shah are also involved in this black market. Among them, Chhotu Paswan, Amit Sharma, Ahmed Mansuri, and Rahul Shah are residents of the said area, while Amjad is a resident of Dangipara, Siliguri.
