Siliguri, 15th February: The Leftist organizations staged a rally in Siliguri protesting against the attack on the left workers and supporters during the Nabanna Abhiyan in Kolkata.
Jibesh Sarkar, the convener of the Darjeeling District Left Front, said that on February 11, the left students’ organization held Nabanna Abhiyan in support of several demands including the setting up of new industries in the state and unemployment. The atmosphere boiled up surrounding the campaign. Police resorted to lathi-charge and used tear gas and water cannons. In the course, several students were injured.
Yuva leader named Moidul Islam Midya succumbed to his injuries this morning. Hence, a protest rally was staged today.
