Siliguri, 27th February: As per the latest announcement made by the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, the government land i.e. leaseholder land under the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority will be made freehold. SJDA chairman Sourav Chakraborty has informed about the same by holding a press conference today.
Around, 700 lease holder lands under the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority will be freehold. Landowners are being contacted and, a meeting was held with the owners of leaseholder land and business organizations of Siliguri at the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority office on Monday.
During this, Vice Chairman Dilip Dugar, Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority members Kajal Ghosh, Gautam Goswami, Parimal Mitra, and other officials were present. In this regard, SJDA chairman Sourav Chakraborty said that it is one of the historic decisions made by the government to make freeholders on leaseholder lands. He further added that the government is prioritising who has rights over land. In this case, the registration fee will have to be paid.
