Kharibari, 23rd June: Kharibari Panchayat Samiti Sabhapati Ratna Roy Sinha on Tuesday submitted her resignation letter at the office of the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Officer.
The development comes after six dissident Trinamool Congress members of the Kharibari Panchayat Samiti jointly submitted a no-confidence motion on 11th June seeking her removal from the post of Sabhapati.
With the confidence vote scheduled to be held on Wednesday, her resignation has created fresh uncertainty over who will eventually assume the post of Sabhapati of the Kharibari Panchayat Samiti.
After submitting her resignation, Ratna Roy Sinha said she was saddened by the decision of six members from her own party to bring the no-confidence motion against her.
She claimed that the members wanted a new Sabhapati following the formation of a new government in the state and had therefore moved the no-confidence motion.
The outgoing Sabhapati said she had worked with all members over the past four years for the development of the area and would continue working for the people in the future.
Attention is now focused on who will take charge of the Kharibari Panchayat Samiti following her resignation.
