Karam Puja organized on behalf of Kharibari block Karam Puja Committee

Kharibari, 30th August: Karam Puja was organized at Fulbari Khal Line Maidan on behalf of the Kharibari block Karam Puja Committee. 


Reportedly, the Puja was organized last night following the customs of the Adivasi community and the immersion programme was held today.


Adivasi Bikash Parishad Kharibari Block President Radha Munda, Secretary Peter Oraon, Advisor Handu Oraon, Sundar Lal Ekka, Sahadev Toppo, and many others were present during the programme.

Adivasi Bikash Parishad Kharibari Block President Radha Munda stated that like every year, Karam puja was organized in a similar way, this year as well. After the puja was completed yesterday, the immersion programme was held today.

Karam puja is a harvest festival celebrated in the Indian state of Jharkhand Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Odisha, and West Bengal. It is dedicated to the worship of Karam-Devta (Lord), the god of power, youth, and youthfulness.

Significantly, Karam is the name of a tree, but it is the form of God for the tribals. The tribal community believes that Lord Karam relieves all the sufferings and bring prosperity among the people.
