News Desk: In a significant development, Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, known for delivering crucial verdicts in cases involving the teacher recruitment scam, has officially stepped down from his role as a judge of the Calcutta High Court.
Gangopadhyay sent his resignation letter to President Droupadi Murmu via mail at 10:35 AM earlier on Tuesday. Additionally, he has also sent his resignation to the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
It is reported that Abhijit Gangopadhyay’s judicial tenure began in 2018 when he assumed the position of judge at the Calcutta High Court. However, prior to his scheduled retirement, Gangopadhyay has chosen to resign from his esteemed judicial post.
