Siliguri, 14th July: Following continued rainfall over the night, the Jorapani River is in spate. The increase in water levels has resulted in water entering residential areas. Notably, during the dry season, the said river takes the form of a mere drain.
According to reports, on Thursday night, the water of the Jorapani River entered several areas of Fulbari Gram Panchayat (GP) adjacent to Siliguri. Following this, residents of the area are distressed as water entered several households. Numerous houses in Ambikanagar and Shantipara areas were inundated by the river water. In addition, the residents are now concerned about the consequences of a further increase in rainfall.
