Siliguri, 09th June: Jalpaiguri MP Jayanta Kumar Roy on Monday evening inspected the progress of the ongoing redevelopment work at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station. During the visit, he toured various sections of the station and interacted with officials associated with the project.
Speaking after the inspection, the MP said that modern ticket counters are being constructed at both the northern and southern ends of the railway station, with the work nearing completion. Once operational, the new counters are expected to provide greater convenience to passengers, particularly those from Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and the plains of the Dooars region.
He further stated that the redevelopment work is aimed at transforming NJP into an international-standard railway hub equipped with modern facilities. Keeping future transportation needs in mind, the station is being developed to accommodate bullet train and metro rail connectivity.
The project also focuses on improving passenger amenities and strengthening connectivity in the region.
After reviewing the redevelopment work, Jayanta Kumar Roy expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project.
