Alipurduar, 30th July: The Jaigaon police recovered a substantial amount of illegal liquor from a truck in the Hasimara area. Two people identified as Prem Kumar Mandal and Biplab Saha were arrested in the incident. They are residents of the Srirampur area of Assam.
Addressing the media on Friday, OC of Jaigaon Police Station Abhishek Bhattacharya said that acting on a tip-off, a truck was seized in the Hasimara area. 650 cartons of illicit liquor worth 17 lakh rupees were recovered from the truck. He said that the liquor was being smuggled to different places in Alipurduar. Police have started an investigation into the whole incident.
