Indo-Nepal border sealed for 72 hours ahead of Nepal general elections 

Kharibari, 18th November: Nepal elections are to be held on 20th November, and 72 hours ahead of this the Indo-Nepal border has been sealed. The decision has been taken according to a meeting called by officials of India and Nepal to ensure a peaceful election. From the night of 17th November till midnight of 20th November, all the borders of Nepal connected with India have been sealed. 


After the elections, the border will be opened again for the general public. Due to the closure of the border this morning, people who reached for medical treatment faced the most trouble. 20 people from Assam are trapped in Panitanki due to the closure of the border. Apart from this, businesses and trade are also suffering due to the closure of the border.

In this regard, Deepak Chakraborty, Joint Secretary of Panitanki Vyavasayee Samiti, said that a profit of two crore rupees is generated from the businesses but with the closure of the border for three days, the business will come to a standstill. Along with this, the operation of e-rickshaws, autos, and taxis on the border will also remain closed for three days.
