Jalpaiguri, 28th April: On the order of the High Court, the District Magistrate demolished illegal restaurants located on the banks of the Teesta River in Jalpaiguri, on Wednesday morning. The demolition operation was carried out by a huge police corps.
Allegedly, a crowd of people gather every evening in the restaurants on the banks of the Teesta. Every day more than 500 people flock to all these restaurants. This may cause an upsurge in corona cases in Jalpaiguri.
In this regard, a case was filed on the Jalpaiguri circuit bench. On the basis of this case, Judge Rajarshi Bharadwaj of the Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench of the Kolkata High Court ordered the demolition of the illegal construction. Following this instruction, the demolition work was carried out this morning.
