Siliguri, 22nd February: After pulling off a landslide win in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation poll on February 14 and forming the board, Trinamool Congress leader Aroop Biswas thanked the people of Siliguri.
“We are grateful to the people of Siliguri. We are indebted to them. We will repay their love and support in the coming 5 years with interest through development,” he stated while addressing the media after arriving in Siliguri.
It is to be noted, polling will be held in 108 municipalities of the state on February 27. TMC’s star campaigner Aroop Biswas reached Siliguri on Tuesday to campaign in Jalpaiguri. He left for Jalpaiguri from Siliguri this evening.
In addition to this, the Minister congratulated SMC’s new mayor and chairman. “The hopes and aspirations of the people have to be fulfilled soon,” he added.
On the other hand, a felicitation program was held in Siliguri’s Baghajatin Park today to congratulate Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s new Mayor, Chairman and Councilors. While several people were present, no representatives from the opposition parties were spotted. In this regard, the minister said, “Siliguri is our mother and it is everyone’s responsibility to keep her healthy. Everyone must work unitedly for the city’s development.”
