Islampur, 22nd May: A large quantity of cannabis was recovered from a potato-laden pickup van in Ramganj under Islampur police station area. A resident of Siliguri, identified as Gopal Roy, has also been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to police sources, a pickup van loaded with potatoes was heading towards South Dinajpur from Cooch Behar when the van lost control near the Ramganj area. When the vehicle overturned, packets of cannabis emerged from the sack of potatoes scattered on the road.
The accused is now being interrogated and an investigation has been launched by the Police.
