GTA to hold meeting tomorrow to decide if tourists will be allowed to visit Darjeeling or not

Darjeeling, 17th March: Even though some popular tourist spots in Darjeeling are being closed, from today onwards, as a precautionary measure to check the coronavirus, the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) has scheduled a meeting, tomorrow, to decide if tourists will be allowed to visit Darjeeling or not.


The tourist spots that have banned entry for tourists include the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Singalila National Park. Popular tourist spots like the sunrise point Tiger Hill and the trekking route Sandakhpu will also remain closed until further notice.


The other tourist spots that have also closed, from today, include the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) and Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (PNHZP) which will remain closed until March 31. The courses at HMI have also been rescheduled and the trainees will get an opportunity to choose the rescheduled courses from May 2020 till March 2021. Batasia Loop will also remain closed until March 31.
