Grand procession held in Bagdogra on Buddha Purnima

Bagdogra, 01st May: On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, marking the 2588th birth anniversary of Gautam Buddha, a grand procession was organised by a Buddhist monastery in Upper Bagdogra. A large number of followers of Buddhism participated in the event.

According to information, the procession was carried out in traditional style with the use of musical instruments including singha and other ceremonial instruments. Devotees took part in large numbers, reflecting deep religious devotion.

Many women were seen participating with sacred Buddhist scriptures, the Tripitaka, placed on their heads. Buddhist monks and lamas were also seen walking in the procession, adding to its spiritual significance.

Special prayers and rituals were organised throughout the day at the monastery. The procession started from Daragaon Gumba and proceeded up to Dharmakata before returning to the monastery.
