Governor acts like a cadre of a political party: Goutam Deb

Siliguri, 01st September: Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is on a month-long visit to Darjeeling, arrived in Siliguri from Kolkata on Saturday. He held a press conference at Malda, New Jalpaiguri station, followed by a one-hour press conference at Siliguri’s State Guest House before leaving for Darjeeling today.

During the press conference, the Governor expressed dissatisfaction over the role of the state government and administrative officials and also raised questions regarding the law and order situation in the state.

Countering the allegations, State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb immediately held a press conference at Mainak Tourist Lodge and expressed outrage over the Governor statements. He even mocked at the Governor saying that his name will be put up in the Guinness Book of World Records for holding multiple press conferences in such a short time. Deb accused the Governor of acting like a “cadre of a political party”.

“He should resign from the post of Governor and take to the streets as an activist of a political party. He is undermining the constitutional dignity of his post,” Deb said.

Deb further accused Dhankhar of working as an agent of the central government.
