GJM urges public to maintain social distancing in light of North Bengal’s first coronavirus positive case

Darjeeling, 29th March: The North Bengal Medical College and Hospital confirmed the first COVID-19 positive case of North Bengal, on Saturday evening. After the patient was identified as a resident of Kalimpong, a state of panic has prevailed in the neighboring Darjeeling district.


On Sunday, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) urged the general public of Darjeeling to maintain social distancing (a minimum of 1 m) while purchasing essential food and medical supplies. GJM Town Committee President Kamal Chhetri requested the people to take safety measures to contain the virus from spreading in Darjeeling.
