GJM supremo Bimal Gurung announces alliance with TMC for upcoming 2021 election

Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) leader Bimal Gurung, who had been on the run since 2017, appeared in Kolkata on Wednesday, broke ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and announced the alliance with Trinamool Congress for 2021 assembly elections.

Earlier this evening, Gurung was spotted in a car outside the Gorkha Bhawan guest house in Salt Lake and left the premises after a 30-minute of wait when the gates of the bhawan failed to open. Later while addressing the media, the GJM Chief announced an alliance with the Trinamool for the upcoming 2021 elections.

“I want to see Mamata Banerjee as Chief Minister for the third time in 2021,” Gurung said.

He accused the Prime Minister and Home Minister of not fulfilling their commitment made to the Gorkha community in the past six years.

“I am not a terrorist or a murderer. These are political cases and I will fight them politically,” Gurung said in the context of several cases filed against him.

Speaking on his commitment towards the issue of Gorkhaland Gurung stated, “Even If they arrest me, I will be happy to fight for Gorkhaland from behind the bars.”
