Girl stabbed over love affair in Siliguri’s red light area, accused absconding

Siliguri, 13th June: A girl from the red light area was seriously injured after being stabbed multiple times late Thursday night, allegedly over a love affair. The incident occurred near Vivekananda Road under Ward No. 07, triggering panic in the locality. The accused, identified as Md. Sahil, fled the scene and is currently absconding.


According to locals, the girl was attacked with a knife by Md. Sahil outside the red light zone. Hearing her screams, nearby residents rushed to the spot and saw the accused stabbing her repeatedly. He fled as people gathered. The injured girl was rescued and admitted to the district hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. Her condition is reported to be stable.

Police from the Khalpara Outpost responded quickly and have launched a search operation to locate the accused. Ward Councillor Pintu Ghosh also visited the hospital. A written complaint of attempted murder has been lodged, and further investigation is in progress.
