Four arrested with about 100 grams of brown sugar in Bagdogra

Bagdogra, 01st March: In a recent development, the team of Special Operations Group (SOG) of Siliguri Metropolitan Police and Bagdogra police jointly foiled a drug smuggling bid and apprehended four individuals in connection to the case. The accused Zahir Uddin and Mohammad Manjur Alam hailed from Bidhannagar, while Rajesh Singh and Dipen Singh were residents of Chopra.


As per details received, on Thursday night, Zahir Uddin and Mohammad Manjur Alam arrived at Bagdogra on a motorcycle to deliver about 100 grams of brown sugar to Rajesh Singh and Dipen Singh. However, acting on a tip-off, the team of SOG and Bagdogra police launched an operation on the Asian Highway under the jurisdiction of the Bagdogra police station and apprehended the drug peddlers.

During this, the officials seized a motorcycle with brown sugar and three mobile phones from their possession. On Friday, the accused were produced before the Siliguri Court while the police are engaged in further investigation.
