Alipurduar, 09th August: The forest department and SSB arrested 4 people with four Tokay geckos. Among the arrested, 3 are residents of Jaigaon, and 1 of Bhatibari area of Alipurduar.
Based on a tip-off, a small vehicle was detained in the Chakchaka check post area of Kumargram block on Monday. Four Tokay geckos were rescued after searching the vehicle.
Malay Ghosh, a ranger of the Chakchaka checkpost, said that the Tokay geckos were brought from Assam. The market value of the four rescued Tokay geckos is around Rs 60 lakh. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
