Kalchini, 04th January: A wild elephant went on a rampage in the Subhashini Tea Estate under the Kalchini block of Alipurduar district, last night. Five houses were destroyed in the incident.
According to sources, the wild elephant entered the Godown Line of the Subhashini Tea Estate, at 2 am and destroyed the houses of workers Subash Chettri, Bishankar Dhanwar, Paltan Raut, Jitera Munda, and Sunil Oraon. The elephant also gulped all the food items stored in the houses.
The workers stated that they woke up after, at night, and heard noises. They hurriedly left their houses to save their lives.
