Five houses damaged in attack of wild elephant in Kalchini

Kalchini, 23rd June: Five houses were severely damaged in an attack by a wild elephant in the Nimti Domohani Bamandanga area. According to sources, forest workers arrived at the scene this morning to assess the damage caused by the wild elephant. However, upon their arrival, the villagers expressed their frustration and protested. The forest workers found themselves encircled by the agitated villagers for about an hour.


Eventually, the forest workers engaged in dialogue with the villagers and assured them that compensation would be provided for the damages incurred. Local residents shared their grievances, stating that they have been enduring the constant troubles caused by wild elephants. Almost every night, a herd of wild elephants ventures into the village from the nearby Buxa Tiger Reserve forest, wreaking havoc on their homes and livelihoods.
