Fire broke out in passenger waiting room at Siliguri Junction, fire subdued by RPF and GRP team

Siliguri, 22nd October: Sensation prevailed after a fire broke out in the passenger waiting room of Siliguri Junction Railway Station. However, the fire was subdued with the promptness of RPF and GRP. Their quick action averted a major mishap.


Reportedly, black smoke was seen coming out of the second floor of the passenger waiting room in the morning. As soon as the GRP and RPF team on duty got the news they reached the spot and the team started extinguishing the fire. On the other hand, a fire engine reached the spot as soon as the officials obtained the news. The fire was brought under control after about half an hour of hard work. With the help of RPF, GRP, and fire brigade, a major accident was prevented.

GRP officials said black smoke was seen billowing out of the passenger waiting room window. After that they started work on extinguishing the fire and subdued the arson.


On the other hand, Ward No. 01 councilor Sanjay Pathak also reached the spot as soon as he got the news. Speaking on the incident he said there could have been a major accident. But the fire was brought under control by the promptness of GRP and RPF. At the same time, the fire officer stated that it has been assumed that the fire may have been caused by the negligence of the passenger and is under investigation.
